“THE scientific organisation CERN says the work on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be covered by the budget of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, Associated Press has reported.
CERN spokesman James Gillies said it would cost 15 million francs ($20 million) to repair the machine and prevent a recurrence.
He said the remaining money would be used to replace the spare parts.
An electrical arc shut down the collider nine days after the $US10 billion ($15 billion) machine started up with great fanfare on September 10 and proton beams were successfully circulated in the main ring of the LHC for the first time.” source...
