Art experts have praised his wife’s well-trained eye for the undervalued
masterpieces. Among the items that will go under the hammer in New York next
month are a drawing by Barnett Newman that Kathy Fuld bought in 1999 for
about £170,000. It is now valued at £1.1m. Another drawing, by Willem de
Kooning, which sold at auction in 2001 for £1.1m, has doubled in value.
There are also works by Arshile Gorky and Agnes Martin.
